In 1952, he married his wife anneliese, who has since sadly passed away, and with whom he fled to the west via berlin in 1958. Through his work as a representative in a company in nurnberg, he came into contact with many french porcelain companies and in 1960 he took over a porcelain factory in kups, which he managed until 1993. The jubilarian is still active today and likes to spend the cold months in ibiza. He is particularly proud of his four children, eleven grandchildren and meanwhile 18 great-grandchildren.
